[A] Lesson From The Firewood

Memory Verse: "...not avoiding worshiping together as some do..." (Heb.10:25, MSG)

Scripture Reading: Heb.10:19-25

It is often the simple things of life that teach us something about the big things. Moreso, a believer that has an understanding of the physical things will be able to understand spiritual matters too because most times, they are connected (Jn.3:12): we just need to slow down and lower our own voice enough so that we can hear and pick the lessons and for this morning's meal, the firewood has something to teach us.

If there is one lesson I have learnt from firewood cooking, it is: the power of [spiritual] fellowship. Togetherness. Connectedness.

No single stick of firewood can successfully cook a meal. As a matter of truth, no single stick of firewood can sustain its own fire. This is true because it was not designed for that. But on the other hand, a conglomerate of firewood will do the job [of sustaining their fires and cook a very delicious meal with their combined fire] just fine. And the meal gets done in no time. Talk about speed!

If no single firewood can function alone, why should a believer expect to function alone? God designed the firewood to need other 'firewoods' and the believer is no exception.

No believer has self-sustaining capacity for his spiritual fire. If you know anyone, please let me know. It is only a matter of time, that fire will be out.

Also, as a growing believer, you gain speed for growth in your walk with the Lord as you partner (fellowship / rub minds) with other company of believers.

This is where the church (anywhere believers are gathered in the name of the Lord) comes in. If you want to go very deep in your walk with the Lord: Do not neglect spiritual fellowship. Surround yourself with them: the benefits are unmatchable- Eccl.4:9-10.

Personally, based on the revelation (spiritual understanding) I have about this subject: I love the company of believers. Even when I was 'born-against' no sin could stop me from going to Church. How much more now? The Church is my source and because I do not want to dry up; beyond fellowship, I am consciously planted and I am reaping the rewards.

What a joy, today is another day to fellowship. Another day to increase and multiply your spiritual fire. Make the most of it. Maybe before now, you go to Church casually, now you have been imparted with great understanding. Say to yourself, no more playing church! Go with the consciousness that you are going to be equipped with more spiritual fire and watch your spiritual fire burn hotter and hotter.

Remember, no believer has self-sustaining capacity to generate and sustain his own fire.

Ponder Point: Set yourself on fire and the world will gather to watch you burn.

Action Point: Don't fight fellowship. Connect. Relate.

Prayer Point: Lord, I ask that an inextinguishable love for Your house be stirred up in my heart in Jesus name, Amen.
